AIIMS MSc Biotechnology Exam 2026: Dates, Eligibility, Admit Card

The AIIMS MSc Biotechnology Entrance Exam 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on 13 June 2026. The exam selects top candidates for the MSc Biotechnology course at AIIMS and its affiliated colleges. The basic application process is initiated on April 2026*, and the last date for registration is May 2026*. Candidates who have done the basic registration can generate the code for final registration. The application for the final round is open from April 2026*. To be eligible, candidates need a related degree including MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc., B.Pharmacy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy (minimum 4½ years), B.Sc. (minimum three years), or B.Tech (Biotechnology), with at least 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS and 55% for SC/ST candidates. The exam will be conducted in an online mode, comprising 90 multiple-choice questions. Candidates are given a fixed duration of 90 minutes to answer all the questions. Also, the candidate will get 1 mark for every question which is answered correctly and 1/3 mark is deducted for every incorrect response.

Additionally, candidates have to pay an application fee of INR 1,000 for General/OBC candidates and INR 800 for SC/ST candidates, payable online. After the exam is done, all the shortlisted candidates based on merit will be called for counselling and seat allotment. The AIIMS MSc Biotechnology is a national-level entrance exam organized by AIIMS for admission to its M. Biotechnology course. The following is the counselling and seat allotment process for the AIIMS MSc Biotechnology exam 2026:

Step 1: Results & Merit List Declaration: The AIIMS MSc Biotechnology entrance exam results will be declared on 20 July 2026. Along with the results, the officials will also publish a combined merit list of qualified candidates. Candidates are shortlisted for counselling based on their position in the merit list. The minimum qualifying cutoff for the AIIMS MSc Biotechnology is the 50th percentile. 

Step 2: Counselling Rounds: The first 2 rounds of the counselling process will start in August 2026, tentatively. After these, a final open counselling round will be held in September 2026. Candidates can visit the official AIIMS website for more details on the counselling schedule. 

Step 3: Counselling Process: After the results, candidates have to attend counseling according to their merit rank. During counselling, they also need to fill out the choice filling of the subject based on their rank and seat availability. Step 4: Document Verification: All the shortlisted candidates then have to go for document verification. For this, they need to present documents including academic marksheets, AIIMS M.Sc. Biotechnology admit card, ID proof, etc.

Step 5: Seat Allotment: All candidates who meet the 50th percentile cut-off are eligible for the open round. Seats are allotted based on merit and the candidate’s choice during counselling. If seats remain vacant after the first two rounds, they are filled during the final open round of counselling, which is conducted offline. 

Step 6: Final Admission: Once the candidate’s documents are verified and they get their seat, they need to finish the admission formalities. This includes paying the fees to confirm their seat.

AIIMS MSc Biotechnology Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Here is the AIIMS M.Sc. Biotechnology entrance exam eligibility criteria that candidates must fulfill:

  • Academic Qualifications: Candidates must have one of the following qualifications from a recognized university/institute:
    • MBBS/BDS
    • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc.)
