The CLAT Exam 2026 will be released on 7 December 2025, by the Consortium of National Law Universities. Common Law Admission Test is a national-level entrance test held to vet admission into undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by 24 National Law Universities across India and other prestigious private law colleges. Only NLU Delhi does not accept the CLAT UG OR PG score as it conducts a different entrance test named AILET. CLAT Exam is an offline exam, and is performed in a pen-and-paper mode at many designated centres across India. It is held once a year, and the CLAT 2026 Exam will be held on 7 December 2025, for intake of admissions in the 2026 session.

There is no limit to the number of attempts a candidate can take to appear in CLAT as long as they fulfil the requirements of the eligibility criteria. However, a candidate cannot reappear in the same year. There is no set age limit to appear in CLAT. The CLAT 2026 result will come out on 16 December 2025. 

The registration fee for CLAT 2026 is INR 4000 for candidates of the General/OBC/ORI/NRI category, and INR 3500 for SC/ST candidates. The syllabus for CLAT 2026 includes sections from English, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and General Knowledge for UG courses. For Postgraduate courses, the syllabus consists of Constitutional Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Jurisprudence, International Law, Torts Law, Administrative Law, and Family Law. 

CLAT 2026 is a national-level entrance exam conducted primarily for candidates to get admission into UG and PG courses offered by National Law Universities. The exam is conducted in one language, i.e. English only. 

CLAT Admit Card 2026

The CLAT admit card 2026 will be released on November 2025 by the Consortium. The admit card of the CLAT 2026 will be ready to download from the official website of CLAT. Candidates can visit the website to download their respective admit cards. The admit card contains vital information like the candidate's name, address, contact, exam centre, and seat number. Candidates should carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid ID proof, as candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall without it.

• Next, download the CLAT Admit Card, and check all details. 

CLAT Answer Key 2026

The CLAT Answer key 2026 will be released soon after the exam authority published by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) in two Steps. Firstly CLAT Provisional Answer Key 2026, and Second CLAT Final Answer Key 2026. Candidates will be able to access the answer key on the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The Students will be allowed to raise objections in the answer key 2-3 days after the release of the provisional answer key till the objection window is closed. Candidates will be charged INR 1000 per question, which will be non-refundable. After the objection window is closed, the CLAT 2026 final answer key will be released on 13 December 2025*.

CLAT Result 2026

The CLAT Result 2026 will be released online by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) on 16 December 2026. Students can check their scores by login with the registered ID and password on the official website. The CLAT 2026 result will display the Students marks, rank, and qualifying status. Along with the CLAT scorecard, the CLAT merit list 2026, cut off marks, and rank list will also be published for admission to top NLUs. Students should download and save the result for the counseling process, seat allotment, and future admission reference. 

How to download CLAT Result 2026?

Step 1: Visit the official website of CLAT  @consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

Step 2: Click on the “CLAT 2026 Result” link.

Step 3: Enter your registered mobile number and password.

Step 4: Enter the CAPTCHA code and click on Login.

Step 5: Your CLAT Result 2026 will appear on the screen showing marks, rank, and qualifying status.

Step 6: Click on the Download/Print option to save the result PDF.

Step 7: Keep a copy of the scorecard for counseling and admission process.

CLAT Exam 2026 Counselling and Seat Allotment Process

The CLAT 2026 counselling process, which determines seat allotment in National Law Universities (NLUs), involves several stages, including registration, preference submission, and multiple allotment rounds. After the CLAT 2026 exam results are released, eligible candidates are invited to participate in the counselling. They must then register, pay the counselling fee, and update their NLU preferences. The Consortium of NLUs manages the counselling process, including seat allocation based on merit, preferences, and category. 

Detailed Steps in the CLAT 2026 Counselling Process:

1. Result Announcement: The CLAT 2026 results will be declared, after which eligible candidates will be invited to participate in the counselling. 
2. Registration: Candidates must register online by providing their contact details, educational background, and other relevant information. 
3. Counselling Fee Payment: Candidates need to pay the counselling registration fee to proceed with the counselling. 
4. Preference Submission: After registration, candidates must submit their preferences for different NLUs and programs. 
5. Allotment Rounds: Several rounds of seat allotment will be conducted based on merit, preferences, and seat availability. 
6. Document Verification: Following seat allotment, candidates must verify their documents at the designated NLU. 
7. Admission Fee Payment: After document verification, candidates must pay the admission fees to confirm their seat. 
8. Reporting to the Institution: Finally, candidates must report to the designated NLU to complete the admission process. 

CLAT 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme for CLAT 2026 for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate remains the same. The CLAT 2026 will have 120 questions. Every question will be of 1 mark.  For every correct answer, candidates will be awarded one mark, for every wrong answer, -0.25 marks will be deducted, and zero marks will be added or deducted for unattempted questions. The time duration for the exam will be 2 hours, and the exam will take place in a single shift.

The syllabus for Undergraduate courses in CLAT 2026 is different from the syllabus of Postgraduate courses in CLAT 2026. The undergraduate course will cover the syllabus from English, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, and Legal Reasoning. In contrast, the syllabus from Post Graduate courses covers sections from Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, International Law, Contract Law, and Torts Law.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2026 

To meet the eligibility criteria for CLAT 2026, candidates appearing for UG programs must have completed Class XIIth exams with an aggregate of 45% and 40% aggregate marks according to the category of candidates. For Post Graduate programs, candidates must have completed their LLB or an equivalent degree with an aggregate of 50% and 45% marks according to the category they belong to. 

Detailed information regarding the eligibility criteria is stated below:

1. Qualification:

FOR UG:

• 40% aggregate marks in Class XIIth for candidates of the SC/ST category.
• 45% aggregate marks in Class XIIth for candidates of the General/OBC/OCI/NRI category.

FOR PG:

• 50 % aggregate marks in LLB or equivalent degree for candidates of General/OCI/NRI/OBC category.
• 45% aggregate marks in LLB or equivalent degree for candidates of the SC/ST category.

2. Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear for CLAT 2026. 

3. Nationality: Indian Nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)/ PIO, and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply. 

4. Number of Attempts: Candidates can only appear once in CLAT 2026. However, there is no limit on the number of attempts a candidate can make for CLAT, but they can only appear once a year. 

CLAT Application Form 2026

The CLAT 2026 Application Form process has been 1 August 2025, and the Last date to apply is 7 November 2025. Candidates can fill out the application form online by visiting the website of CLAT. Candidates will be required to fill in personal details, academic details, and payment of registration fees. The registration fees for CLAT 2026 are kept fixed at INR 4000 for General/OBC/OCI/NRI category candidates, and INR 3500 for SC/ST candidates. Candidates can make the payment by mode of Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking, and UPI. Apart from this, candidates will be required to upload some documents such as scanned passport-sized photographs, scanned signature, scanned mark sheet of class 12th, and scanned mark sheet of LLB (For PG).

CLAT Exam Cutoff 2026 

The expected cutoff list for CLAT 2026 will depend on various factors such as the difficulty of the exam, seat availability, and the number of candidates. The cut-off list for CLAT 2026 will be released on the website of the CLAT. However, based on the cut-off lists of previous years, the expected cut-off for CLAT 2026 is 85+ for the General category, 75+ for OBC, 65+ for SC/ST, and 55+ for PWD category in the Undergraduate courses. For Postgraduate courses, the expected cut off is 70+ for the General category, 60+ for OBC, AND 50+ for candidates belonging to SC/ST category.
