Admission to the B.Tech course in GIET is based on a merit using the centralised counselling process like those at the state level. New students have to apply online through the AP EAMCET or JEE Main counselling websites (e.g. APSCHE for EAMCET, JAB JEE Main) and choose GIET during fill choices. Processes of application, seat allotment and verification of documents are totally online; one can not do such offline.

During the counselling process, candidates must carry and submit original documents, which include Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, entrance examination scorecard, transfer certificate/migration certificate, caste/Aadhaar/residence certificate and passport size photographs. The last level of admission is determined by the ranking order of the entrance examination, the proper verification of the documents and effective attendance at the counselling program undertaken by APSCHE.

GIET academic session operates on a semester basis, with two semesters in a year in accordance with the rules of the parent University, JNTU Kakinada. The starting and reporting dates of the classes are accurate as per JNTUK and GIET, and it is announced through the official institute website.

Eligibility Details to apply in B.Tech Programs at Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) in 2025-26:

General Category: Students must have passed Class 12 or its equivalent from a recognised board with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects, and one of the following subjects, that are Chemistry, Biotechnology /Biology. Students need 45% aggregate marks in class 12th, or must have passed the AP EAMCET/ JEE Main entry tests.

Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC): Identical topics (PCM and + optional) with the passing grade of a minimum of 40% in the qualifying examination.

As per the policy of GGU, 70% of the seats in B.Tech (Category A) can only be filled by a valid rank in AP EAMCET or JEE Main. The candidates have to appear at one of these national/state-level engineering entrance exams and use the rank in the counselling process. The merit based admission would be permitted to candidates belonging to other states or unions or NRI (or NRI sponsored), who get placed in other 30 percent seats (Category B), under having passed in the JEE Main/AIEEE and had the necessary academic qualifications, otherwise, could also follow the AP EAMCET merit based selection.
