To get admission in IIM Kozhikode, the courses have different admission steps. For MBA (PGP) Regular, students are required to appear for CAT entrance exam 2026 which is scheduled to be held on 16th March 2026. After getting good marks, students can then appear for the next step, like written test and personal interview. For MBA Executive, students must have a graduation degree and 3 years of work experience. Students are also required to appear for the Executive Management Aptitude Test and can also appear for CAT and GMAT entrance exams. Admission to the PhD program requires students to have a master's degree and obtain valid marks in the CAT, GRE, or UGC-NET. Admission to the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) program requires students to pass the IIMK BMS Aptitude Test. Below are the various stages of the admission process that the students can take reference from-

Stage 1- CAT Registration and Exam

Candidates who are interested in taking admission into the MBA/PGP programme are required to register for the CAT exam and have a valid score on it. 

Stage 2- Shortlisting of candidates

• Based on CAT scores, IIM Kozhikode shortlists candidates for the next round.
• The criteria include-
• CAT percentile (sectional and overall)
• Academic performance (10th, 12th and graduation)
• Work experience (if any)
• Diversity factors (gender, academic background)

Stage 3- Personal Interview and Written Ability Test

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview round and will also have to write an essay on a contemporary topic. After the conclusion of both rounds, a category-wise merit list will be released based on the candidates performance in all the rounds. 

Stage 4- Offer and Acceptance of Seat

• Selected candidates will receive admission letters via email.
• They will have to confirm and pay the admission fee to secure their seat.

IIM Kozhikode Selection Criteria 2026

IIM Kozhikode selects students through a three-stage process starting from the candidates giving the CAT exam and then meeting the minimum CAT cutoff, which is 85% for the general category. Then, the shortlisted candidates are called for a writing test and a personal interview round. The final selection is based on the CAT score, interview, writing test, and resume of the candidate with each part having a fixed weightage. The CAT score and the interview taken by the IIM Kozhikode members carry the most marks. UG programmes- Bachelor of Management Studies

• Candidates must have completed the Class 12th examination or hold a diploma post ten years of schooling from any stream recognised by the relevant boards of the Government of India.
• Candidates must be able to produce originals of mark sheets/certificates on or before 1st August 2025 to be eligible for admission.

Post Graduate Program- PGP

• Must hold a graduate degree with at least 50 per cent marks and 45 per cent for reserved categories.
• A valid CAT score is required.
• Final selection includes the Written Ability Test, Personal Interview, and academic/work profile.

Doctoral Program

• Master's degree or professional qualification like CA/CS/ICWA with at least 60 per cent marks.
• Valid scores in different exams like CAT/GATE/GMAT/GRE/UGC-NET, depending on the specialisation.

Executive MBA 

• Graduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience.
• Must clear EMAT (Executive Management Aptitude Test) or have a valid CAT/GMAT score.

IIM Kozhikode Cutoff 2025

IIM Kozhikode cutoff is declared by the institute after the results of CAT 2025 are declared. For the general category students, the minimum CAT percentile required is 85% with sectional cutoffs at around 75%. For OBC-NCL and EWS category students the overall cutoff is around 75 percentile. SC candidates need at least 65% while ST and PwD need 55% to be eligible for the admission process. These are qualifying scores, which means meeting them lets you move to the next stage, but to get a final offer, the candidate usually needs a much higher score. In recent years, the actual cutoff for general category students has gone above 98%, making it very hard for the candidates to qualify for the exam.

IIM Kozhikode has shown excellent performance in the NIRF management rankings in the past years. In the year 2020, the college was ranked 6th with a score of 69.96, and in the next year, it moved up to 4th place with a score of 73.74. In 2022, it dropped slightly to 5th but improved its score to 74.74, while in 2023 it climbed to 3rd position with a score of 76.48.
