Students can apply online through the official website. Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology (RIT) offers various BTech engineering programs affiliated with Anna University. Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology BTech course duration is 4 years. Students can apply online from the official website. Direct admissions are based on marks obtained in class 12th, after that TNEA Counselling process is done.

RIT Chennai offers a total of 9 specialisations in both BTech & B.E., including 3 BTech and 6 B.E. specialisations. The BTech admission at Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology for the academic year 2025-26 will be done through the following two modes:

1. TNEA Counselling

The college accepts BTech admissions based on Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) conducted by Anna University. Students must register on the official TNEA portal and provide their 10+2 marks. Based on merit, counselling will be conducted, and students will be allotted seats in RIT.

2. Lateral Entry (Diploma Holders)

HSC (Academic & Vocational) Candidates

  • Candidates applying for admission to the BTech program at Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology must have completed Class 12 (HSC - Academic or Vocational stream) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
  • The minimum qualifying marks for HSC candidates vary according to category:
    • For Open category candidates, a minimum of 50% average marks is required.
    • For Backward class candidates, the minimum required is 45% average marks.
    • For most Backward classes, the minimum eligibility is 40% average marks.
    • SC/ST candidates need to have just passed the qualifying examination.
  • JEE Main scores will be considered for Merit-based Management Admissions, although it is not mandatory for all applicants.
  • Candidates belonging to communities other than SC/ST should have passed the qualifying examination within two attempts to become eligible.

Lateral Entry Candidates

  • Students who have completed a Diploma in Engineering or Technology are eligible for direct admission into the second year (lateral entry) of the B.E./B.Tech programs.
  • The minimum eligibility based on Diploma marks for lateral entry candidates is as follows:
    • Open category candidates need a minimum 50% average marks are required in the qualifying examination. 
    • Backward class candidates need at least 45% average marks.
    • 40% average marks is the minimum for most backwards class candidates. 
    • SC/ST candidates must have passed the diploma examination.
  • As with regular entry, candidates belonging to communities other than SC/ST should have passed their qualifying Diploma exam within two attempts.

Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology BTech Entrance Exam 2025

Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology does not conduct any separate entrance exam for BTech admission. The selection process is:

  • For TNEA: Based on 10+2 PCM marks
  • While not the primary entrance exam for RIT, JEE Main scores are also considered for admission, particularly for specific programs or categories.

JEE Main: JEE Main exam is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA twice a year for undergraduate engineering programs such as BTech. Registration for JEE Main session 1 begins in November and the exam is usually held in January. Registration for JEE Main session 2 starts in February and the exam is conducted in April. Admit cards for session 1 are released in January and for session 2 in March.

TNEA: Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) is a state-level counselling process held by Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) and it does not conduct any separate entrance exam. The registration process usually starts in May and continues till June, students can apply online on the official website of TNEA. TNEA counselling generally begins in July and ends in August every year.
